Each : Each case varies due to the degree of difficulty in removing the teeth, length of surgery, underlying medical issues, and the patients pain tolerance. I tell my patients that they typically can expect spending two days at home recovering, primarily to keep ice on the surgical site and to make sure they are well hydrated, eating well and taking their medications. The second day tends to be the most challenging as the sedation medications, if used, have worn off and swelling, if it were to develop, is present. Usually you are feeling well enough on the third day to return to normal routines. Failure to control swelling or to keep the surgical sites clean will prolong your recovery.

Dr : Dr funari's answer is right on, for the usual case, we never know how a patient is going to react to surgery. Most people are fine after a few days, some not. If you really worried about missing school, schedule the surgery when school is done. This way you have plenty of time to recover. I always recommend to my student patients to get their wisdom teeth removed the week school is done. Generally speaking, take a week for recovery and it should not interfer with your social life. Good luck!
