In : In general, most rhinoplastic surgeons will leave an external splint on for 1 week. Occsionally, depending on the amount of tip swelling, additional taping may be applied for another week. The longer a splint and adhesive tape remain in place the greater likelihood of skin eruptions fostered by blocking the sebaceous (oil) glands.

Depending : Depending on the work that is done, 1 week is typical. I will sometimes remove it in my office after a week and have the patient tape it on only at night for one more week.

~ 1 week: Typically the external splint stays on for 5-7 days, with the tape/bandage that is placed below on the skin taken off at the same time.

I typically leave: the external splint 7 days after. If the patient can tolerate returning to the patient's activities with the external splint, then the patient could resume activities 4 days after.
