Oh : Oh my. That doesn't sound like a very pleasant interaction with the doctor. Some antibiotics are excellent at treating certain conditions but perform poorly with other medical problems. Perhaps, this is why the doctor prescribed the medication even if you have not had successes with it in the past. I don't know that i would automatically go to the er. You may wish to try the medication for your pulmonary symptoms to see if it is helpful for that condition. Going to the er would be both time consuming and very expensive for you. Do you know when your regular doctor will return? I think that the situation merits discussing with him or her (from a medical aspect as well as regarding the quality of the doctor - patient interaction that occurred. Take care.
