Hello. : Hello. The doctor will be able to visualize a number of things during bronchoscopy. Even if he isn't sure what it is, if it looks suspicious he can take a small biopsy of it. Then it can be studied in a pathology lab, so that they would be able to tell if it is cancer or not.

There : There are several tests which can be used to help determine the etiology of a pulmonary nodule or nodules. To some degree it depends on the size of the abnormalities. Bronchoscopy is often used after imaging with ct or pet to obtain tissue for diagnosis. Transbronchial lung biopsy, transbronchial needle aspiration, and bronchial lavage for cytology are specific procedures that can be performed through a bronchoscope. The use of endoscopic ultrasound with bronchoscopy can also be helpful.
