One : One of issue of concern is if he becomes dehydrated. That can occur fairly quickly in an eight month old. Here are some things to look for to tell if he is becoming dehydrated. If he goes six to eight hours without wetting his diaper or his urine smells strong and looks dark. If his mouth and lips are dry or you see no tears when he cries. Lethargy is also common. He may be very dehydrated if the skin around his eyes looks sunken in or if the soft spot in his skull is more deeply depressed. If his hands or feet are cold or look stippled. He could also seem more upset and be sleepy. If he has signs or symptoms of dehydration he might need intravenous hydration.
