Congratulations : Congratulations on your decision and follow to stop smoking. Ear, nose and throat doctors (otolaryngologists) are of course the gold standard when it comes to head and neck problems. I am wondering if at least part of this could be from eustachian tube dysfunction. The eustachian tube can close off, and does not allow pressure or fluids to be drained from the inside part of the ear into the throat. This may or may not be a contributor to your symptoms.

No idea: If you had a full ENT exam and nothing was found, there are other causes of neck pain, from the many muscles in the neck and throat, to other problems. If your pcp and an ENT specialist cannot find a cause, you may want to go to a pain management specialist and see what they have to say. Physical therapy, massage or acupuncture may be of some help.
