A member asked:

My daughter is experiencing a cough, has fatigue, slightly pale in face, has had 2 bouts of diarrhea, vomited 2x mucus could this be whooping cough? she has had no fever..

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It : It is not clear to me how old your daughter is. Whooping cough, pertussis, is on the increase, because of un-immunized people or people whose immunizations are no longer effective. If your daughter has been fully immunized and is up-to-date, then whooping cough is less likely. Whooping cough causes severe paroxysms of coughing, often to the point that the patient vomits. If a patient has these symptoms, with shortness of breath, or has fever, rash, or vomiting, then they should contact their physician for an evaluation.
