Hello. : Hello. I can not diagnose the cause of your shin pain and swelling. If you have been doing a lot of exercise, you might have shin splints which can become quite painful when you press over the bone. If the pain is not on the bone, but is instead in the muscular area between the two bones (fibula and tibia) it could be consistent with a compartment syndrome. If you have significant pain and swelling and it is tender to touch in the meaty area between the bones than i would recommend that this be evaluated (although you haven't brought up anything that would explain a compartment syndrome). If you are tender over the bone itself, i recommend rest for the leg, elevation and consider use of Motrin if you are not allergic to non-steroidal inflammatory medications. If it isn't resolving, get medical evaluation. Take care.
