In : In that situation, taking a pregnancy test to be certain would be reasonable. Sometimes the period can be light after hormonal fluctuations, but the safest thing would be to take a test to be sure. If a patient had continued symptoms, vomiting, pain, or spotting, then the patient should contact their physician.

Since : Since you posted your question nearly a week ago, this issue may have already been resolved. If you take Plan B within 72 hours of having unprotected sex, it's nearly 90% effective for preventing pregnancy. However, because it's a hormone, Plan B often alters your next period; in fact, in many cases it causes women to skip their next period, raising fears about whether it was really effective. Now, there are a number of other factors that can disrupt your menstrual cycle, including severe stress, illness, and excessive exercise, so your activities on the weekend prior to posting this question could conceivably account for your late period. If you haven't had your period by now, take a home pregnancy test. If it's positive, see your doctor to discuss your options. If it's negative, it may just take a cycle or two for your normal pattern to become reestablished. Good luck!
