Endometriosis: Endometriosis refers to uterine lining that's outside of uterus that still responds to hormonal signals. As such, when it's time for your monthly periods, you notice pain wherever the lining has implanted. Some respond to simple NSAIDs ie ibuprofen or naproxen. Others respond to hormonal manipulation ie using birth control to avoid having any menses at all. Failing that, laparoscopy is next step.
