Anytime : Anytime you have an active viral outbreak, you should avoid procedures that could cause it to spread. Or worsen. Those who are considering lip injections, laser or facial surgery - even microdermabrasion - should wait until a cold sore is completely healed. For patients in our practice who have ever had cold sores or even chicken pox, we provide anitviral medication to prevent an outbreak. This is one situation when "better safe than sorry" play out every time.

You : You should not have the lip procedure during the active phase of the cold sore. The best time to do it would be right after it is healed. Best wishes dr. Peterson.
