There : There are many things that can affect the vascular suuply to your hand and thus give your knuckles a purplish cast. They range from hand thinngs such as the ubiquitous carpal tunnel syndrome, as some who have carpal tunnel will have coolness or coldness to their hands, to the obscure vasculitis or collagen vascular disease. More commonly, position of the arm during activity, sleeping or even sitting at a desk can affect the circulationand thus give the changes you note. Things such as endocrine disorders, thyroid disease and diabetes can also affect circulation.
