If : If it's towards the wrist, it's almost certainly a ganglion cyst. Look it up on wikipedia and see if that you in the photo. There is some good information on that site.

Ganglion : Ganglion is most likely.And the most common other things can include a synotic mass, tensosynovitis an accumulation of tissue that forms around the tendons, but those things are more common in someone with inflammatory arthritis.
