Unfortunatelly : Unfortunatelly , medicine is not so simple. Many things have to be considered, the age, sex, diagnosis, weight physycal activity etcetc . The diagnosis is very important , all knee pains are not due to the same thing , and thus are not cured the same way, whay could be good for somebody may be totally wrong for somebody else.

Varies: There is not really a single best medication and every medication has its own potential risk. NSAIDs such as Advil or alleve are traditionally tried first if not contraindicated and are over the counter. There are much more powerful medications if it does not respond to the simpler things.
