Seven Days Sore: At seven days, it is time to see your primary healthcare provider. Less than seven days, likely a virus, supportive symptomatic care with tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin is all that's needed. An oral decongestant may help with the stuffy nose. Colored drainage longer than seven days may signal it's time for an antibiotic to treat a possible sinus infection.
