Botox : Botox will require time to wear off after an injection. If a patient is unsure, i recommend they start in a commonly treated area (glabella) with a smaller number of units - good or bad, the effect will be subtler and shorter in duration. Don j peterson, md.

Botox : Botox is a neurotoxic protein called botulinum toxin. It is produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum. The protein used in small amounts causes weakening of the muscles by blocking nerve impulses. Botox used on facial muscles for cosmetic improvement takes 2-5 days for results to take effect and lasts 3-6 months. Once Botox is injected into the muscle there is no known reversal process. You must wait the time until the protein is no longer effective in relaxing the muscle. Botox is widely used and administered by trained dentists in the area of the mouth, lips, gums and tongue. Because the effect of the botulinum toxin is temporary, injections have to be repeated. A controlled amount of Botox is required per area. Too much and too often can give you the apperance of "looking weird" or frozen. Discuss this with your doctor during a consultation. Perhaps you can start in an area less obvious to test out how you like the effect and the result. Good luck.

It will wear off: There is nothing you can inject to reverse the effects, but it will wear off in 3-6 months. Sometimes, you can use additional injections to counter the effects of the botox, thus reversing some of the effects, but for the most part, you need to wait for the results to wear off.

Choose Wisely: Botox is a great for calming overactive muscles of the forehead and smoothing out wrinkles. However, once placed there is little that can be done other than waiting for it to wear off in 3-4 months. So, choose the physician wisely before undertaking Botox. Careful evaluation of your face & lid function & artistic placement of Botox is critical for great results. www.artofplasticsurgery.com
