From : From a psychological perspective, obesity can be devastating for a child. It can be a source of low self esteem and depression. Obese children have to face discrimination and they have a harder time connecting with others and may feel lonely.

Your : Your essay is timely to be sure as we are in the midst of an epidemic in the United States of obesity. Just think about what it would do to a person's physical being (all systems of the body) were you to put a 35 or 50 pound pack on their back and ask them to go about their day's activities with such a stressor in play. Clearly, not only is the musculo-skeletal structure strained but so are all of the organs. Particularly affected, because much of the obesity comes from ingesting "dumb, " little value calories from simple carbohydrates, the pancreas is forced to pump out more Insulin to handle the sugar load. That organ gradually fatigues and is no longer able to deal with the demand. At first there may be hypoglycemic episodes (too much Insulin driving down the blood sugar levels so a person experiences symptoms) to finally being unable to deliver the Insulin needed and an obesity driven type ii diabetes results with its devastating impact on the rest of the body, particularly the cardio-vascular system. So, congratulations on tackling this important and very current health concern. I hope you are in school doing this essay and will share the results of your knowledge gained with as many fellow students as possible. The need is urgent for better education about nutrition and the importance of healthy eating and exercise.

Diabetes: for one thing-it can lead to diabetes at an early age- NO CHILD SHOULD BECOME DIABETIC FROM EATING THE WRONG FOOD or eating too much. It can also lead to hypertension, hip problems, sleep apnea, and fatty liver. NO CHILD SHOULD EVER LOSE HIS LIVER because he didnt eat right or in the right portions.
