There : There are many things that can cause pain in your legs or thighs. These can range from muscles (strains, sprains, tears, overuse, etc.) to bones (pathologic fractures, bone tumors, etc.) to problems with blood vessel problems (clogged arteries slowing down the flow of blood to the muscles) to vein problems like you are asking. Blood clots in the big (deep) veins of the thigh is called dvt- deep venous thrombosis. This can be caused by many conditions including inactivity, trauma, cancer, hormone supplements. Dvt is usually diagnosed using ultrasound of the veins (sometimes called non-invasive testing). This is a painless study using ultrasound to look for clot. Usually DVT in large vessels such as the thigh will lead to swelling of the legs below the clot. If your legs are swollen or discolored you should seek help from your primary doctor. The doctor can order non-invasive testing to look for blood clots. They can also examine you to see if there is another more likely cause for your thigh pain. Good luck.

Thigh Veins.: If you have thigh veins and symptoms possibly related to these veins then you should see a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation including a venous duplex ultrasound. This will help to make a diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan.
