You : You didn't say how long you'd been ill and what other symptoms you might have. This is important diagnostic information. Usually, vomiting is caused by acute viral gastroenteritis, or stomach flu. This condition is caused by several viruses that are acquired in the community, and the symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever) usually abate within a day or two. Food-borne illnesses ("food poisoning") cause similar symptoms and last one to three days, in most cases. If your symptoms last for more than 48 hours, or if you develop severe abdominal pain, high fever (over 102), bloody diarrhea, or other worrisome signs or symptoms, seek medical attention. In the meantime, sips of fluids (water, pedialyte, gatorade, juices) will help prevent dehydration. Since you posted your question several days ago, i hope you're already feeling better!
