Weight loss hormone: Rapid weight loss from any method can cause hormonal changes. Surgeons are just starting to study this in patients undergoing weight loss surgeries. The peripheral adipose tissue typically increases estrogen levels in men and women, so, with rapid loss of adipose tissue, men can experience rise in testosterone levels and women, changes in estrogen levels as well. The rate depends on the patient.
