A member asked:

Can skin tags be cancerous? i have a skin tag on my eyelid, i was doing some research on the internet, and i read that sometimes skin tags are really the beginning stages of skin cancer. is it standard procedure to do a biopsy when one is removed?

Skin : Skin tags are benign lesions; however, occassionally a skin cancer, wart, seborrheic keratosis, or other growth can look somewhat similar to a skin tag. A dermatologist is trained to differentiate between lesions and help determine if there is any risk (and biopsy when necessary). I put up a picture of a skin tag below.

Skin : Skin tags are not cancerous. But if they are on your eyelid and interferes with your vision they should be removed.
