There : There are many causes of numbness in the finger tips including spinal cord or nerve compression in the spine, nerve compression in the elbow or wrist (carpal tunnel syndrome) or sick nerves (peripheral neuropathy). The cause of the numbness and associated symptoms of pain, weakness, clumsiness, walking or bowel and bladder problem may make the numbness more worrisome. Numbness on it's own is usually less of a problem for most people. I recommend discussing the numbness with your primary doctor.

Sounds : Sounds like you have several good reasons to focus on your health. Numbness can always be a sign of nerve problems and diabetes can cause nerve degeneration. You should discuss this with your family doctor to see if he/she thinks you should be tested for diabetes. If the numbness persists, seeing a neurologist would be the next likely step.
