Yes: Not uncommon for diabetics, especially type ii, to develop carpal tunnel syndrome, which could awaken from sleep. Other nerve problems could be present, so see your endocrinologist, and consider EMG study.

Carpal tunnel: It certainly could be carpal tunnel syndrome, a pinched nerve in your wrist which makes your fingers go numb. See a hand surgeon for an examination and treatment.
