Medication : Medication may be involuntarily administered to a patient in an emergency when it is deemed necessary to protect the safety of that person or other people. The psychiatrist would need to determine that the medication is required to prevent physical injury and that less intrusive alternatives would not be adequate. If this is an issue for you personally, i recommend that you consult an attorney for further advice about the laws in texas.

Invol meds: Legally, medications may only be administered to a patient involuntarily under the following circumstances: imminent patient risk of harm to him/herself or to another person or if the person has been found to lack capacity to make healthcare decisions due to the severity of his/her mental illness. This final condition is presented to an independent judge to ensure patient rights.
