Typically : Typically the lung itself will not regenerate, but the tissue that is left can expand to take up the space left by removing a portion of the lung. This can make it appear as though the lung has grown back on imaging such as x-rays and ct scans, but with careful examination, you can see that it is just the remaining lung tissue filling the space.

Alveolar growth: The lung units do continue to grow in size and number during childhood. The lung will expand to fill an empty space as well. PRMG/Pediatrics will review records faxed to 858 442 6146
