The : The most common things that would be bother a late twenty year old who hadn't played a sport in a few years would be, muscular fatigue, rotator cuff tendinitis or bursitis, acromioclavicalur joint pain or just being out of shape. Not sure what (soft and a little tear) implies. Rice rat ice compression elevation is a hallmark for acute injuries. Anti-inflammatories over the counter ( one that has been taken before with out issue) and making sure someone is getting better not staying the same or worse. All these are nonspecific things to treat an acute low grade injury. Finally seeing an orthopedic surgeon but if you cannot get a timely appointment a primary care physician should be contacted especially if there is concern for a "tear".
