My grandson is one month old. he seems to be constipated. his last bm was yesterday morning.is this something we should be overly concerned about? any ideas or home remedies for such a young baby? help...:)

Unless : Unless there is no bowel movement for three days then he should be fine unless he seems uncomfortable or his stomach is hard. In that case you should have him evaluated by his pediatrician. Many doctors will recommend an over the counter glycerin suppository (half is good) every three days or so as needed. Also a change in formula may be needed if he is formula fed and the problem persists. Take care.

Breastfed?: If he is breastfed, he may only have a bowel movement once a week and that would be normal. If he is otherwise acting well (continuing to feed regularly, no vomiting, making >5 wet diapers per day) and when his bowel movements do occur, they do not appear hard, this may be his pattern. Formula fed babies usually have more frequent stools.
