I think i am having an attack of diverticulitis. should i go to the emergency room? i am having sharp pains in my stomach that get worse when i lie down. i have had diverticulitis twice before (6 and 8 years ago) i also have a fever off 99.2.

Yes, : Yes, whenever you have abdominal pain with a fever you must be seen as an emergency, particularly as you have a past medical history of diverticulitis. You should also establish a close relationship with a primary care physician so that in the future you can be evaluated early in the course of your illness and started on appropriate medication for possible diverticulitis. As you have pain and fever and your past medical history you must be seen as an emergency.

Yes: If you have had two attacks before and this seems consistent, then yes. Or at the minimum, get in touch with your primary care physician and discuss. He/she may be able to treat you while avoiding the trip to the emergency room.
