I broke my ankle. the doctor said it was on a non weight bearing bone. i was given an air cast. will i need anything else? it has been a week since i went to the er with the broken ankle. is it likely that i will need a hard cast or could this be it? i h

I : I am sure the er gave you instructions for outpatient follow up which more likely than not included seeing an orthopedist. You are clearly cutting corners putting yourself at risk. By giving you the split and crutches the er doctor did his due diligence. You are not doing yours. The final outcome is on you.

See a doctor: You still require follow up which I am certain was directed by the er. See a foot and ankle specialist.

See another doctor: The fibula does bear weight, but not anywhere near as much as the tibia. The main difference is that the fibula has everything to do with ankle stability. You really want to make sure this heals properly. See a specialist.
