You should use a bronchodilator inhaler to open the airways that may be at least partially closed. Cough is one way to open the airways. You also should have a steroid inhaler to decrease the airway inflammation which can also contribute to coughing. Other etiologies of cough include GERD, post-nasal drip. Typically, a cough is multi factorial so see your doctor for diagnosis/treatment. Good luck!

If you are having difficulty breathing, please see urgent care or your physician. Allergic reactions sometimes occur and the symptoms may include cough and wheezing. Please discuss allergy testing and an antihistamine with your physician. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and worsening difficulty.
