Blood : Blood in the stool can be caused by digestive lining irritation, a bleeding ulcer, polyps in the colon that have torn or diverticuli that have been irritated. If you are noticing blood in your stool, your doctor needs to know. If you notice copious amounts of blood in your stool, black/tarry stool, coffee grounds, abdominal pain or fever, go to the emergency room.

Worried: Blood in the stool is never normal, so you are correct in seeking help about that. Blood in your stool is less likely to be related to your prior kidney surgery, however, and is more likely to be related to a primary gastrointestinal source, most likely your colon or rectum. See your doctor about scheduling a colonoscopy to look fo a source for the blood.
