Typically : Typically pediatricians have completed 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, and 3 years of a pediatric residency. There are a few options that are a combined 6 year college and medical school program followed by a 3 year residency, but this isn't the norm. I hope this helps. School: You have to complete the pre-med requirments in college. Most med schools require a bachelor's degree, but some will take adequate units/pre-req's w/o degree. Then 4 yr med school. Then 3-4 year residency in pediatrics. After that, you can chose to specialize or do extra training in a fellowship (1-5yrs).
