A member asked:

Should my child sleep with a nightlight?

Sure: Nightlights can help children soothe themselves when they are going to sleep or when they wake up in the middle of the night. Make sure the light isn't too bright though- you don't want it keeping them up! a soft light allows the child to see their familiar surroundings and can help them from getting too scared in the dark.

Maybe: Nightlights may comfort children, and make it easier for parents to check upon their child during the night. There are some studies that suggest visual disturbances, like myopia, are more common in children with a history of nightlight use. With that in mind, i often suggest a flashlight-it can be turned on when needed.
