Mental exercises: Just like physical activity can get you tired, so can mental activity. Women on bedrest may have sleep distrubances because their routine has changed. Try doing things that keep your mind active. Do not watch tv. Work from home if you can. Write a book (about bedrest), do puzzles, read, volunteer to do your relatives tax returns.

Bed Rest: The best quality of sleep is consolidated, which means in large chunks if time. Patients on bed rest tend to take short naps. Then they often suffer insomnia at night because they've had enough napping during the day that they really aren't tired. So, avoid daytime naps. Keep your mind occupied and active during the day...Read a book, play a game, work on a puzzle, write letters or journal.
