A 35-year-old member asked:
are all bladder masses cancerous?

No: There are several types of bladder masses but not all are cancerous. The definitive test to determine if the lesion is cancer is a biopsy. All bladder masses identified need to be biopsied and examined to determine if is malignant or benign.

Bladder Mass: Many bladder masses are tumorous and represent cancerous growths, but some are related to chronic infection. Your urologist is in the best position to examine you and provide a definitive diagnosis.

U R correct to ?: No treat ment (rx) is not acceptable advice. Was this a urologist?Should have had a cystoscopy? Certainly need a 2nd opinion, preferably from a uro-oncologist.. Hopefully dr. Didn't think it inoperable or too far advanced for rx, if so, not acceptable. Was it a very small frond-like tumor & thus low grade and not need rx, not acceptable. What reasons would a doctor put you forward for a bladder scan is the main reason cancer or can it be other reasons as well?

The main reason: depends on your symptoms and clinical findings. There are many reasons to perform a bladder scan(ultrasound I presume), suspicion of cancer is just one of them.
