There : There are many ethical and legal themes in healthcare, far too many to discuss in this format. I will give you a few to think about though. With regard to ethics, the issue of autonomy is a common issue in medicine. Autonomy is an individual's right to make a decision (i.e. Freedom). When a patient's autonomy is challenged or taken away, this results in ethical tension. For example, what should physicians do when a severely depressed individual demands to leave the hospital? If they are granted full autonomy (freedom) and are allowed to leave, they may harm themselves. But, holding them in the hospital violates their autonomy. The "right thing to do" is not always simple. As far as legal issues, medical malpractice is the major issue physicians think about. Doctors are human and make mistakes, but we are obligated to do everything possible to avoid them (and when we make them, we need to disclose to patients and family that a mistake was made). Malpractice is when a physician does not take reasonable steps to avoid mistakes, but determining this is difficult. I hope i've given you a few things to think about.

Interesting question: The main legal issues are that heart patients can die suddenly and cardiologists may be blamed (and sued). "failure to diagnose an mi" is a major cause of malpractice. Ethical issues relate to insufficient donors for transplantation and end of life issues in chronic disease.

Cardiologist: There are no distinct legal or ethical issues facing cardiologists other than other doctors . Overall we need to be transparent with patients in terms of what their risks of heart disease are and we need to take every measure to protect them.
