Life without a spleen? can a person live a normal life without a spleen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

For the most part: People without a spleen can lead a normal life. Be sure you are vaccinated against these bacteria: streptococcus pneumoniae, neisseria meningitidis, and haemophilus influenzae. People without spleens are at a increased risk severe infections. You should get yearly flu vaccine and your doctor may recommend a pneumonia vaccine. Discuss infection risks and surgical complication with your doctor.
