Peptic : Peptic ulcer disease is a condition that is predominantly caused by bacteria called helicobacter pylori. This bacterium is commonly found in people (50-80%) but only a small fraction of people will go on to develop a stomach or duodenal ulcer. There are other causes of ulcers such as stress, smoking cigarettes and frequently taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or nsaids (these include drugs such as ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen, diclofenac, motrin, aleve, advil). Stress is only a very small factor that plays into increasing your risk, and a transient increase in ulcer disease is typically not observed unless there is extreme psychological stress associated with traumatic events (e.g. Earthquakes). In fact, there are no studies that demonstrate any benefit from trying to reduce peptic ulcer disease by preventing stressful psychosocial situations (e.g. Studying for exams). The best way to minimize your chance of an ulcer is to stop smoking and avoid regular use of nsaids.
