Yes: It takes about 2 weeks after vaccination to develop protective antibody. Influenza vaccine is 70-90% protective in healthy young adults. In the older population the vaccine was 58% effective in previnting laboratory documented influenza. Therefore the vaccine, although excellent, does not provide 100% protection and you can still get the flu even though you have been vaccinated.
