If i take too much azathioprine for my transplant, will it harm my liver?

Yes: Azathioprine can cause inflammation of the liver--hepatitis--so your dose needs to be closely monitored by your transplant center.

Too much is never OK: Too much of any medicine may cause toxicity. Azathioprine can cause liver dysfunction in a small number of patients, and when you take this drug it is standard to monitor your liver function tests. Sometimes dose adjustments need to be made.
