Nerve compression: When your foot "falls asleep", what you are experiencing is a nerve compression. When symptoms are on both lower extremities, it could be coming from a disc bulge or compression in the lower back (l-s spine) called radiculopathy. It could stem from a systemic cause such as diabetes. If this is chronic and doesn't go away, you should see a neurologist or pain specialist for MRI or nerve testing.
