Get a consultation: Most orthodontists will perform an initial exam for free. As opposed to trying to digest 10 years of formal education (training time for an orthodontist), seek a couple opinions. Go with the one that sounds right for you.

Complex answer: Best place for orthodontic information is with your orthodontist. It's a complex specialty with many treatment options for many different problems, both dental and skeletal. A background in various health & physical sciences is necessary to begin to understand the science of orthodontics.

Textbook: I am assuming you are asking about a textbook on orthodontics. Perhaps, the most popular book is contemporary orthodontics by proffitt. It can be found on amazon.Com. There are numerous other books, but it would be best to know what topic you are specifically interested in with regards to the orthodontic specialty.

Jargon: Remember that orthodontic textbooks are not written in conversational english. The authors assume that you have 4 full yrs of dental training and speak the language "dentistry." a better use of your time would be to consult w a qualified orthodontic specialist who can distill 10+ years of higher education into an understandable explanation of your individual needs and their solutions.
