Why do some people mouth breath and what are the problems associated with it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cavities, Gum Diseas: Xerostomia or dry mouth results from mouth breathing and can cause cavities or gum disease. It's caused by obstructed airways, being overweight or skeletal discrepancies that don't allow the mouth to close ie thumb sucking after the age of 6 or so.
