The : The most common reasons for unusual smells in the mouth are decay, tooth infection, gum infection, or food debris on the tongue. Other possibilities include sinus infection or lung infection. Finally your diet may be playing a part in this problem. The dentist is a good place to start, but if no clear dental reason is found you should consult with your personal physician. Make sure you are cleaning well under the bridge with floss and a proxy brush. A waterpik may also be a good investment to clean under the bridge.

It : It is important to know, as dr. Funari has explained, that there are many sources that can cause an odor in your mouth. Don't drive yourself crazy using everything in the dental aisle and trying to scrub yourself clean though! too much can be harmful also. An exam with a dentist may easily reveal the source which will get you strides closer to solving your problem. Good luck!

You : You have been given great answers by the other docs. If all dental and medical reasons for your mouth odor have been ruled out or dealt with and you still are uncomfortable with your breath then i suggest a mouthrinse that has worked for the most difficult cases. It is "smart mouth" by trident inc. It is otc, non-alcoholic, and very effective. Available at most pharmacies and supermarkets.

Tongue: In the absence of other clear reasons or pathology, i find that even very conscientious people forget to scrub or scrape their tongue. It is responsible for halitosis (bad breath) in many folks. It should be part of your daily oral hygiene regimen.

Possibilities: There are many possibilities both dental and medical. Best bet is to discuss with dentist first, then see a physician if necessary. Gi problems, post nasal drop, just to mention a few. Do you floss and clean under your bridge?
