Obstruction : Air trapping means that air gets into the lungs and can't get out easily. This description applies to asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema- disease known as obstructive lung doseases.

COPD or asthma: It means air can get in but can't get out. It's usually a sign of airway obstruction, as is found in asthma, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis. Airways tend to open up as you breathe in, but as the lung exhales the airways collapse and air gets trapped in the distal air spaces.
