Anxiety...: Fluctuations in BP like you describe is likely due to increased adrenaline levels due to anxiety. This, however, is more likely what your BP is doing throughout the day, when you are rushing to a meeting, someone cuts you off on the freeway, you are struggling to meet a deadline, etc. Get a 24 hour, ambulatory BP monitor to see what your BP is doing throughout the day, you will be surprised.

White Coat: White coat hypertension is very common. Blood pressure is normal outside the office and elevated in the doctor's office. Discuss with your doctor. A log of home blood pressures or a 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor will help diagnose this.
