Abnormal cycle: You most likely did not ovulate last cycle and are now shedding your lining irregularly. Stress, among other things, can cause lack of ovulation and even diminished estrogen production. As with any abnormal bleeding in a sexually active woman, pregnancy, infection, or other problems need to be ruled out by your doctor.
