Autoimmune disorder: Thought by some to be an ms variant, it probably is a separate disease state where there is an abnormality of aquaporin 4, affecting predominantly eye (loss of vision) and spinal cord (several continuous level involvement) with leg weakness or paralysis, and attendant bladder or bowel dysfunctions. Tough to treat but might respond to rituxan (rituximab).
