A member asked:

Can you get a pcl transplant if you rupture yours?

Yes: Frequently a ligament is ruptured so badly that it cannot be repaired and must be replaced. Reconstruction of ligaments using donor ligamants from your own body or allografts (donor graft from a cadaver) is a very common way to address this.

Yes: A graft is placed through tunnels drilled in the bones to reconstruct the torn ligament. It is less common than acl surgery. Many people that have isolated PCL tears can function normally without surgery.

Yes: It is called a PCL reconstruction where they take your own tissue or a cadaver's tendon and replace your old PCL with it. It is technically a transplant but we call it a reconstruction. The results of reconstruction are better than repair (sewing torn PCL together).
