Carpal Tunnel Syndrm: Alterations of normal sensations is most likely a result of a compressed nerve. When the hand and fingers exhibit numbness it most likely carpal tunnel syndrome or compression of the median nerve. However, diabetes, cervical disc compressions and compressions of the nerves in the elbow and forearm can mimic carpal tunnel syndrom. A through exam by a hand surgeon will yield an answer.
